Meme Day
I meant to do this one a few days ago. Blame bronchitis.

1. Reply to this post, because I would like to say a couple words about you.
2. I will also tell you what song(s) remind me of you when I hear it.
3. I will also tell you what celebrity/public person/fictinal character/image you remind me of, either personality-wise or looks-wise.
4. I will also give ONE WORD that I associate with you when I think of you.
5. We all could use a boost now and then, so steal this for your journal and make someone else's day as well.

1. I am now replying to this post. I will now say some words about you. Although you can't hear them, the words I have said about you are "spedometer" and "corpuscle".

2. The song "I Want Love", makes me think about you, because I wouldn't know it existed if you hadn't introduced me to it. Also the song "Every Little Bit", because I showed it to to you and if I can introduce *you* to good music, it is a banner day indeed.

3. You remind me of Alice in Wonderland. Not Alice so much as Wonderland itself. Salvador Dali once said "I don't need drugs. I *am* drugs." You, to, me, are like that.

4. Cromulent

5. Okay

Okay, the point of this was that *I* was going to say cool things about YOU. That being said, I like the cool things you said about me. You said I *am* drugs. You've pleased me beyond the telling of it.

Getting on with it:

1. I'd have gone through 4 years of that whack-ass relationship if it meant I'd get to be your friend when all was said and done. I think you're weird and real and a genius. Your friendship feels like home to me.
2. Fire Up the Shoesaw :) ... and actually, Well Enough (the one I wrote), because when I hear it, play it, etc. I always hear you doing the harmony.
3. Nicholas Brendan, lookwise and a little Xandery otherwise.
4. Quiche (haHA!)

Aiight.

1. You're the best writer I've ever met, and a good deal better than many I've not. In addition, your photographs are occasionally the desktop on my work computer, because they're excellent. Furthermore, you're one of the most thoughtful and supportive friends I've ever had. And in conclusion, the call is coming from inside your mouth.
2. Anything by Radiohead, really. Also, strangely, anything by Cake -- strange because you're just now getting into them, but explained by:
3. John McCrea
4. wry

First, I'd like to state that, unlike some people who I won't name, I followed the directions. Ok, it was moraulf. But, that disclaimer aside, here is a reproduction of my answers for Brooke that appeared on my distant and hard to access webpage, which can only be reached by clicking on my name directly above this comment.

1. Say a couple words. That is hard; I feel as though I need all my words for you. I'll try, though. You're a talented writer, and photographer, and singer, artist and musician, but I've realized that these aren't your gifts -- they're just means you've developed to express the gift that you are. You're insightful, thoughtful and brilliantly funny and I count meeting you as a great stroke of luck for me for I find you consistently and ceaselessly interesting. You're also a beautiful woman.

2. "Dry the Rain" from the Beta Band. You gave me this song on the first mix cd you made for me soon after we met and as I've said before the part where he says it's ok to say what you feel inside reflects my own feelings towards our friendship. Beyond that, though, this song captures a blend of melancholy hurt and hopeful love that I think is a somewhat unique emotional mix few would understand and identify with. The writer of the song did, I do and I feel like you do too.

Also, songs by the Weepies, and also Deb Talan and Steve Tannen, and certain others songs that escape me now.

3. Oh. I don't know. You're so you. Umm. I'm going out on a limb and saying Hermione Granger, not as she is in the books, but as she might be after she's grown up, relaxed a little and lived a little.

4. TIGER. Don't look now, but the tiger is coming from inside your mouth. Ok, wait, let me pick another word. Ok, I have it:

Cheeky.

1. The nicest thing I can say about you is that you saved my soul at a time when it was dieing. And you made it laugh when all it wanted to do was cry. And for that you are a true hero.

2. You know what song i associate with you always? Two of them. Love Will Come To You by the indigo girls, and also the one you wrote and sang to me that was loverly, and i beleive about Chris.

3. Wonder Woman!

4. I will forever associated the word Toasties with you. forever and ever amen.

Toasties toasties toasties!!!! And OOOOOH, wonder woman. You win a big award for that. Like, 5 awards.

1. You are smart and supercool, and you are the funnest person to run around with like a couple of LUNATICS. No one shares an adventure like you. We're insane people together.
2. No More Drama by Mary J Blige, CLEARLY, and Don't Let Me Get Me.
3. Ewen McGregor, because you're obviously soulmates, so I can't help but think of him when I look at you.
4. It's a sentence, sorry: "You're ruining it for everyone."

Okeeeeee!

1. Well, as you know now (though not at the time!), I endured a friendship that never felt like a good fit because I didn't know how else to stay in contact with you (To those who are reading who aren't Mo, I don't mean my friendship with her was a bad fit. Someone else.). I think you're a wonderful combination of heart and brain -- you're fun and thoughtful, nurturing, funny, adventurous, responsible -- a lot of great qualities you expect to find in a roomful of people and are pleased to find living inside one wee girl. And you are that wee girl. And I love you.
2. I'm sorrysorrysorry -- it's the song Short Dick Man, because you played it for me the first time. And only time.
3. HMMM. God, I seriously don't know. I can't think of a character that's three-dimensional enough to satisfy me here.
4. Endearing

1. A few words about the Bean... hmmm... you're on a short list of people who really feel like a part of me. Our friendship was so formative -- it really did a lot to shape the journeys I'd take with music, politics, understanding poetry and looking like a supermodel. In some ways, I think the time when we met was the last stretch of childhood, the last time I was just plain me, without any affectations. I think you know a more basic Brooke than most people see, and I think also I have a connection to the Inner Bean. Frankly, I think you're an amazing woman. You're brilliant and insightful. And SUPER HOT. If only the G-man could see you now. It's not a surprise to me, but I'm always glad we were able to overcome our struggles and find each other. I'm glad I'll get to see you do incredible things from the front row.
2. I Don't Know Why -- Shawn Colvin. They're not trying to cause you pain, they're just afraid of loving you.
3. Witch Baby :)
4. sister. or oatmeal. or HOT.

1. I knew we were going to be supergood friends within the first hour of our acquaintance. I think we have serious chemistry, yes. You're a bright, beautiful, funny, weirdy loopstress. You became very important to me in an astonishingly short time, and I am PSYCHED TO THE GILLS that you and Eric are staying local. Psyched to the gills like a really happy fish!
2. I have pleasing new memory of dancing to 'I Think We're Alone Now' at the Depot.
3. You remind me of someone who should be the romantic lead of some cute indie film -- effervescent, fiesty, and so lully as you are -- but unfortunately that movie doesn't exist yet. Someone should get on that.
4. sparkly

1. You're a genius, and it didn't take an LSAT score to tell me that. You're fun, funny, and engaging. You pull the strings of a nurturing heart -- my mom said just this morning that you could never be convicted of a crime so long as your lawyer chose mothers to sit on the jury. I've loved every moment of our friendship, even the hard ones, and the closer we are, the better.
2. "How long, how long must we sing this song, how long, how loo-oo-ooo-oo-oong?"
3. If Tracy were a celebrity...

Damn it. That totally would have been mine, now I have to think of another. Also, now I have "hold me closer, Tony Danza" stuck in my head. Curses.

No, that really is going to have to be it. I've heard it on the radio thrice since you started working here and each time I laughed and thought of you.

I do have a word for you, though: loquaaaaaacious. :)
